Coming in hot this week with a boat load of intel and happenings around NYC, including Chef Daniel Boulud’s group selling the space his flagship restaurant is in, Rory McIlroy’s Masters dinner featuring a dish from Le Bernardin and plenty of events as pop up season slowly starts to begin!
Lauren’s recent events email got me excited for what’s to come over the next few months, but more so than the big events, what we really look forward to is all the pop ups and collabs that happen from this time of year all the way through fall.

It’s mentioned a fair bit these days how high NYC rents and general cost of doing business has led to a homogenization of restaurant menus and offerings but pop ups don’t have those same constraints, meaning you’ll often find some of the most innovative cooking happening in NYC.
This week for instance, there’s a Pakistani influenced menu from Ranis at Greenpoint Fish where they’ll be cooking up spice crusted fish sandwiches as well as an Indonesian pop up at Lise & Vito with Balinese glazed ribs. Both of those and plenty more NYC restaurant intel below!
Rory McIlroy’s Masters dinner will feature Le Bernardin’s legendary tuna and foie gras dish, with the famous golfer saying the restaurant is one of his favorites in New York.
Dinex sold the commercial condo that Restaurant Daniel is in for $18.5 million but for those that were worried, the restaurant is staying put having signed a 20 year lease.
Rezdora, one of the most well known Italian restaurants in NYC, has jumped over from Resy to DoorDash in NYC’s ongoing reservations wars.
Courtney Presley shared on Corner Booth that she was charged for TAP WATER at Cafe Commerce!! Apparently the menu didn’t say anything about that money going to charity or anything, so not sure what is going on there!
When it comes to some of those pop ups I mentioned..
Bé Bếp are at Bar Americano this Wednesday and Thursday.
Ranis are serving Spice Crusted Fish Sandos, Coco Chutney and Shrimp Kadhai at Greenpoint Fish and Lobster this Wednesday. Reservations are fully booked but it’s worth setting a notify as it’s not ticketed, just a la carte so some seats may come up.
You’ll find Hidangan Indo at Lise & Vito this Thursday serving classic Indonesian dishes starting at 5pm.
Miss Ada is heading to Fish Cheeks in Williamsburg for a guest chef collaboration dinner April 14th. There’s currently only early or late seatings left!
Looking further into spring, Chef Yara Herrera of Hellbender is teaming up with Chef Maycoll Calderón at Cuna for a one night collaboration on April 24th.
Brooklyn-based chef and TV personality Elena Besser leads the kitchen for the 3 night monthly dinner series at MARC179 April 23rd, 24th and 25th.
Markette and Birdee are teaming up to offer specials at each other’s locations, which will include a jerk short rib breakfast sandwich.
Layla are serving mini tinis (I think we can all agree tiny tinis is a better name) and pintxos from 4-7pm on 25th, 26th and 27th March as they team up with Four Pillars gin for a three day ‘happy hour.’
When we travel we quite often will do a cooking class but we never really do in NYC, so I’ve had a look at a few recently that are run by places we’ve already been to.
There’s plenty of new openings this spring too….
Balera is set to open next week in Williamsburg.
Bar Ferdinando is re-opening April 15th at 11am, according to Chef Sal Lambolgia, who’s taken over the space that was Ferdinando’s Focacceria.
L’industrie have opened in Little Italy, making it their third NYC location.
Sadly, Culpepper’s, one of the only places in NYC serving food from Barbados has closed. We went here for our ‘Eating around the world, without leaving NYC’ series.
Ms. Alice opens on the Lower East Side April 3rd with a menu centered on martinis, spritzes and classic cocktails with Australian flair.
And Elizabeth Street by Dante is opening in May with a Dante Martini Bar, wood-fire kitchen, spritz garden and cocktail lounge.
